the importance of saying “no”

If you are like me, you probably have a hard time saying no, and I mean saying “no” not just giving the person or request reasons or excuses why you can’t do something. There is power in flat out saying “no.”

When you give an excuse or reason as to why you can’t do something, human nature is to figure a way to get a yes. Example: “Can I borrow five bucks?” “Sorry, I only have a 2o.” “That will work I can pay you back tomorrow.” “Um okay?”

Solution: “Can I borrow five bucks?” “No.” People don’t hear the words no very often, so when they do hear it, it gives a sense of finality. It’s not abrasive or rude; it’s just the truth.

Usually, we give people a way out of our “no’s.” You can still please people and say no. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
