What are you Committed to?

Notice, that I said what, not who. What do you think about? What do you spend your time doing? How do you think about spending your time?  How long will it take you to achieve that commitment?

There is a huge difference between saying you are committed to something and being committed to something.

Looking at your life right now, what are you committed to? Summer homework. Dance.  Football. Being Kind. Minimizing procrastination.  Saying thank you. Being a better friend. A better listener.

I am committed to being a better leader. I spend time reading about being a better leader. I listen to leadership podcasts, I follow good/great leaders on Twitter and Facebook. I think about what good leaders say, do, and how they act. I imagine myself in situations where I can show my leadership skills, and how those situations play out.

Start with a small self-commitment and move forward.

Your commitments are defined by what you are doing right now. Take a moment and think about how you can improve.
