assumptions and why they hurt us

Don’t Make Assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.Don Miguel Ruiz

assume that because i am not using capitals or punctuation that i dont know what i am doing

this may be true but then your assumption would be wrong

Over the past month,  I have watched a lot of people make a lot of assumptions including myself. Some of these assumptions have been shared out loud, while some have been thoughts bouncing around in my head. I have seen students make assumptions about teachers; parents make assumptions about kids and a variety of other relationships partially damaged because of assumptions.

I’m starting to feel that there is never a positive assumption and that I am not a good communicator. In reality, my biggest downfall is that I assume that others (including my wife and kids) understand how I feel, what I think, and how I see the world. I want to do a better job of expressing these things. I know it will help me become a better father, husband, and educational leader.
